The Governor Phillip Scholarship was established to commemorate the bicentenary of the death of Admiral Arthur Phillip RN (1738-1814), the founder of modern Australia.  Its purpose is to promote bilateral exchange of outstanding students from Australia and the United Kingdom to study at postgraduate level at leading universities in both countries.

The Patron of the scholarship is the Governor of New South Wales.


The mission of the Governor Phillip Scholarship is to invest in outstanding young Australian and British men and women from all fields of endeavour to create an inspirational generation of leaders, academics and global citizens for the benefit of Australia and the United Kingdom.
